How we think, feel and act is subject to very specific mechanisms. And we don't always do what we do out of inner drive alone. Numerous factors influence how we judge people, how we react to certain things, or what intentions we pursue. We are always exposed to deception, lies, and manipulation, be it among friends and acquaintances, at work, in the media, or in politics. Anyone who acquires the necessary psychological knowledge will leave the shackles of heteronomy and will decisively improve their lives.
One disadvantage is another advantage
First of all, manipulation is not uncommon as long as it remains a neutral influence. In the circle of family or friends, it is common practice that one would make other considerations or decisions differently and benevolently try to convince the other person of one's own (supposedly better) decision. Manipulation becomes critical when it is used in such a way that others do not even notice it. As a rule, manipulation is pursued solely with the aim of achieving one's own advantage. Of course, every person is differently susceptible to manipulation, but nobody is completely immune to it.In today's society, young people quickly learn that their classmates and fellow students are potential competitors. The ability to manipulate is still often interpreted in society as a sign of social intelligence, the deceived is the one who is inferior to the deceiver. Everyone knows it - there are people who often complain about not having noticed certain things beforehand and those who sometimes boast about having "ripped off" other people. But why is that and how can deception and attempts at manipulation be recognized in good time?
